How it's made
Modal fabric is a semi synthetic (has synthetic materials made from natural resources) material that is made from spinning beech tree cellulose. The Beech trees are harvested and chipped following which the cellulose is extracted. The extracted cellulose goes through soaking cycles until fibres are created. Yarn is then spooled from the fibres which is then knitted into fabric.Â
Its benefits
- Durable, soft and breathable.
- Easy to dye (maintains colour for a long time).
- Does not shrink and doesn't pill after friction.
- It also drapes well and does not crease easily and so requires minimal ironing.
